Der Band dokumentiert die Beiträge eines Expertenseminars, das zugleich die Abschlussveranstaltung für die 1998 gegründete Nachwuchsgruppe des Max-Planck-Instituts zum sozialen Schutz und zum internationalen Recht bildete. Die Arbeiten dieser Gruppe endeten im März 2002.
