Der 17. Weltkongreß der International Association of Legal and Social Philosophy im Juni 1995 in Bologna stand unter dem umfassenden Titel "Challenges to Law at the End of the 20th Century". Ziel war es, die aktuell wichtigen politischen und sozialen Fragen, die sich der Rechts- und Sozialphilosophie stellen, aufzugreifen. Dieser Sammelband stellt eine Auswahl aus den Beiträgen des Kongresses zusammen, die dem Themenbereich "Rechtsstaat" und "Herrschaft des Rechts" (VII) zugeordnet werden.
