Neun der vierzehn Beiträge beziehen sich auf den Beitritt Polens zur Europäischen Union. Es werden wirtschaftliche und währungspolitische Aspekte, die Ökologisierung der polnischen Landwirtschaft oder auch die Zusammenarbeit der deutsch-polnischen grenznahen Regionen beleuchtet. Weitere Themen des Bandes sind die Ziele der EU im Lichte der Agenda von Lissabon, der Zusammenhang zwischen der Globalisierung und der Osterweiterung der Europäischen Union, die Auswirkungen der Erweiterung auf die Entscheidungsmacht im Rat sowie die Mehrwertsteuer in der Union.
